It has been announced that the construction of new generation nuclear reactors in France, which is experiencing energy shortages, will begin before 2027.
According to the news of the French channel BFMTV, the government will lay the foundations of 6 new generation EPR2 nuclear reactors with a cost of 51.7 billion Euros before the end of the last 5-year term of President Emmanuel Macron.
France, which is building solar and offshore wind power plants to solve the energy shortage, wants to accelerate the transition to renewable energy by building 8 new generation nuclear power plants promised by Macron under the climate law.
The Minister of Ecological Transformation, Agnes Pannier-Runacher, told Europe 1 radio that the next generation reactors will be installed in the areas where the existing nuclear reactors are located.
